Air Fryer Padrón Peppers Recipe

Padrón peppers, a delightful tapas dish from Spain, are small, green peppers with a mild flavour, though occasionally you might bite into a spicy one! They are quick and easy to prepare, especially in an air fryer, making for a perfect air fryer snack or appetiser. Here’s a simple recipe to enjoy these delicious peppers at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200 g of Padrón peppers
  • 12 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil
  • coarse sea salt to taste
  • Optional: a squeeze of fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Wash the Padrón peppers thoroughly and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
  2. In a mixing bowl, toss the peppers with the olive oil, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  3. Place the oiled Padrón peppers in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook them in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  4. Cook the peppers at 400°F (200°C) for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. The peppers are ready when they are blistered and slightly charred.
  5. Transfer the cooked Padrón peppers to a serving plate. Sprinkle with coarse sea salt to taste. For an extra touch of flavour, you can add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice over the top.
  6. Serve immediately while they are hot and enjoy!
