Air Fryer Fried Pickles

Print Recipe

Air Fryer Fried Pickles are one of my favorites! This is a Texas Road House Copycat Fried Pickle recipe. To make it even better it is made right in the air fryer.

  • Author: Julia
  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 10 minutes
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 30 1x
  • Cuisine: American

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of sliced dill pickles
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic powder

Instructions

Air Fryer:

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Mix flour and spices in a shallow bowl.
  3. Dip sliced pickles into the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating.
  4. Arrange coated pickles in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  5. Spray pickles with cooking spray or drizzle lightly with olive oil.
  6. Air fry at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes.
  7. Flip the pickles over and spray with cooking spray.
  8. Continue air frying for an additional 5 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  9. Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately.

Oven Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Mix flour and spices in a shallow bowl.
  3. Dip each pickle slice into the flour mixture, ensuring it is evenly coated.
  4. Place the coated pickles in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Lightly spray the tops of the pickles with cooking spray.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove from the oven and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Deep Fried:

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Mix flour and spices in a shallow bowl.
  3. Dip each pickle slice into the flour mixture, ensuring it is evenly coated.
  4. Carefully lower the coated pickles into the hot oil using tongs or a slotted spoon, working in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  5. Fry the pickles for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Make sure to dry your pickles, so the excess juice comes off. You can set them on a paper towel to help drain off the juice. This is what will help to ensure the coating sticks to the pickles.
  • Spray generously with cooking spray to avoid flour spots and to make them nice and crispy.
  • Freeze the pickles for at least 30 minutes before breading them to help the coating adhere better.
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket – work in batches if necessary to ensure that the pickles cook evenly.
  • Flip the pickles halfway through cooking to ensure that both sides are crispy and golden brown.
