- Whisk warm milk, active dry yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar in a bowl. Cover and allow it to sit for 5 minutes. The mixture should be frothy on top after 5 minutes. If not, start over with new yeast. 1/3 cup warm milk, 2 teaspoons active dry yeast, 1 tablespoon sugar
-
In a separate bowl, add 3 cups of flour, and add in salt, plain yogurt, oil, and garlic. Next, add the activated yeast mixture.
3 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 tablespoons plain yogurt, 3 tablespoon vegetable oil, 2 teaspoons minced garlic
-
Now, mix everything together and knead with water (3-4 tbsp) as required to form a soft, smooth, and elastic dough.
3-4 tablespoon water for kneading
-
Brush some oil on top of the dough and cover it with plastic wrap. Keep it in a warm place for at least 2 hours to rise. The dough should double in size after resting for 2 hours, if it has not doubled, allow it to continue to rise.
-
To make garlic butter – Mix everything under the garlic butter section in a small bowl.
3 tablespoons melted butter, 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro, 2 teaspoons finely chopped garlic
-
Remove the dough and place onto a clean, lightly floured workstation, and divide it into 8 equal dough balls.
-
Using a rolling pin, flatten the balls into a round shape, around ½ inch thick. Do this one at a time with each dough ball. Keep the other dough balls covered so they don’t try out.
-
Brush some garlic butter on top.
-
Preheat the air fryer to 350°F.
-
Brush some oil in the air fryer basket, place the naan in the basket, one at a time, and cook for 7-8 minutes on one side or until lightly golden brown on top. Do not turn over, cooking on both sides makes the naan hard.
-
Brush some garlic butter on top of the naan immediately after removing it from the air fryer. Repeat with the rest of the naans.
