Hearty, comforting, and unapologetically filling—this is the Full English Breakfast the way it’s meant to be. Crispy bacon, juicy sausages, runny eggs, buttery mushrooms, tomatoes, beans… the whole glorious lineup. Perfect for weekends, brunch, or when you want breakfast to mean business.
Ingredients (Serves 2)
4 pork sausages (British-style if possible)
4 rashers bacon (back bacon preferred)
4 eggs
1 cup baked beans (canned, in tomato sauce)
1 cup mushrooms, halved
2 tomatoes, halved
2 slices bread (white or sourdough)
Butter or oil (as needed)
Salt & black pepper
Optional extras: black pudding, hash browns
How to Make a Full English Breakfast
Cook the sausages
Heat a large skillet over medium heat with a little oil. Add sausages and cook slowly, turning often, until browned and cooked through (10–12 minutes). Push them to one side.
Add the bacon
In the same pan, add bacon. Cook until crisp but not dry. Remove sausages and bacon, keep warm.
Mushrooms & tomatoes
Add a knob of butter if needed. Sauté mushrooms until golden and tender. Add tomatoes cut-side down; cook until softened and lightly caramelized. Season lightly.
Warm the beans
Heat baked beans gently in a small saucepan over low heat. Don’t boil—keep them creamy.
Fry the eggs
In the skillet (or a clean pan), add a little oil or butter. Fry eggs to your liking—traditionally sunny-side up with runny yolks. Season with salt and pepper.
Toast the bread
Toast bread until golden and butter generously.
To Serve
Plate everything together while hot:
Sausages & bacon
Fried eggs
Mushrooms & tomatoes
Baked beans
Buttered toast on the side
Optional but very British: a mug of strong tea ☕
Pro Tips
Timing is everything: Start with sausages—they take the longest.
One-pan magic: Use the same pan for flavor layering (wipe lightly if needed).
Don’t overcook eggs: The runny yolk ties the whole plate together.
Authenticity boost: Add black pudding or hash browns if you like.
Variations
Vegetarian Full English: Swap sausages & bacon for veggie versions, add grilled halloumi.
Spicy twist: Add chili oil or peppered sausages.
Light version: Fewer sausages, grilled tomatoes, and poached eggs.
