Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth (or chicken broth)
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

How To Make Slow Cooker Chili

  1. Brown the meat
    Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground meat and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add onion and garlic
    Stir in chopped onion and garlic. Cook for 2–3 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  3. Transfer to slow cooker
    Add the cooked meat mixture to the slow cooker.
  4. Add remaining ingredients
    Add beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, broth, and all spices. Stir well to combine.
  5. Slow cook
    • Cook on LOW for 6–8 hours
    • Or HIGH for 3–4 hours
  6. Final taste
    Taste and adjust seasoning before serving.
