Dr. Pepper Pulled Pork made in a slow cooker is easy, tender, and delicious and everyone always loves it! Everything you love about sweet and savory pulled pork, but when it’s flavored with Dr. Pepper, it makes every single bite melt in your mouth! Add melted cheese and drizzle on some BBQ sauce for the best appetizer sliders EVER!
Ingredients
For the Pulled Pork
3 pound pork shoulder or butt
1 packet Lipton Onion Dip mix
32 ounces Dr. Pepper
For the Optional Au Jus (for dipping sandwichs in)
3 cups pork liquid
1 cup brown sugar
¼ cup maple syrup
To Make Sandwiches/Siders (optional)
Rolls, slider buns, or bread of choice (like brioche!)
Cheese slices, of choice (we use Colby Jack)
BBQ sauce, or toppings of choice
Coleslaw or shredded lettuce
Instructions
Place the pork into the slow cooker.
Add the dry seasoning followed by Dr. Pepper
Cover and cook on high 3-4 hours or low 6-8 hours until fork tender.
To make the au jus, remove 3 cups of liquid from the crock pot to a small saucepan with brown sugar and maple syrup.
Whisk while over high heat and reduced by about half.
Assemble sandwiches/sliders with toppings of choice
Dip the sandwiches in the au jus or drizzle the juice over the meat for extra flavor!
