A perfect side to any meal, these Air Fryer Parsnips are easy, healthy and ready in just 20 minutes. These honey mustard parsnips combine honey, dijon mustard and a handful of spices for a healthy veggie side.
Air fryer parsnips make for great finger foods for toddlers because parsnips are starchy and thick. This makes them easy to hold.
I’m thinking about a lot more air fryer kid recipes I can test with fun flavors.
The honey and mustard parsnip combination is also very appealing because it’s sweet and savory all together.
You can definitely serve this to kids and babies, but leave out the honey if doing so. While parsnips for babies are great, honey under age 1 is not recommended.
Ingredients For Air Fryer Parsnips
Here’s what you need to make this air fryer vegetable recipe.
- parsnips
- avocado oil
- garlic powder
- honey

I haven’t served these to Hannah (10 months old) yet because they have honey, which is not recommended for babies under one.
But, I’m sure they would be just as tasty with salt, pepper and garlic if you did want to serve them to young babies for baby led weaning foods.
But, they make for a great air fryer recipe for toddlers and a great way to introduce these cream colored root vegetables.
These are a slightly different twist on my popular turmeric crispy parsnip fries recipe, but both are great ways to fall in love with these healthy, root veggies.
How To Make Parsnips in Air Fryer
I know you’re thinking, can you fry parsnips? Yes! Making parsnips in the air fryer really couldn’t be easier because there is absolutely zero prep involved.
Check your instructions for your individual air fryer but chances are you can just put them in and bake.
If this is your first time, here’s a first time guide to using an air fryer. I love this site because they give you ranges for all types of veggies and foods.
You don’t need to saturate them in a ton of cooking oil, but a little bit helps (I recommend avocado oil), or even a cooking spray.
Preheat your air fryer.
Preheat your air fryer to 380-390 degrees F (about 200 degrees celsius). I like to cut the parsnip into 2-3 inch pieces. Try to make them all the same shape and size for more even cooking.
Mix your honey mustard sauce.
Mix the avocado oil, honey, mustard, salt and garlic powder and marinate over the parsnips.
Place the parsnips in the air fryer basket. Cook for 15-18 minutes.
Next time I may try using a mandolin slicer and making air fryer parsnip chips because I think that shape would be great too!
