Air Fryer Mushrooms And Onions

This Air Fryer Mushrooms and Onions recipe requires just 5 ingredients and 5 minutes prep time, and makes a delicious side dish for steak, pork and chicken, or as a topping for burgers and pizza!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 pound cremini mushrooms, halved (or quartered, if large)
  • 1 large yellow onion, cut lengthwise into 1/2-inch slices
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Add the mushrooms and onions to a large bowl and toss with oil, salt and pepper.
  2. Place the mushrooms and onions in the air fryer basket and air fry on 400F for 15-17 minutes, stirring at the halfway point.
  3. Serve immediately and store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

  1. As the mushrooms shrink, I usually cut them in half instead of into thin slices. If your mushrooms are large, you may want to quarter them.
  2. The onions are cut into 1/2-inch slices, so they get soft but not mushy. If you like your onions on the softer side, try cutting them into smaller slices.
  3. The onions will get soft and translucent and start to caramelize around the edges a bit at about 15 minutes. If you want them caramelized a bit more, air fry for another few minutes. Be sure not to over air fry them as they will start to dry out and burn.
  4. I used a Philips 2.75 quart air fryer to make this recipe. If you’re using a different brand, model and/or size, you may need to adjust the temperature or air frying time slightly.
