Made most of these with a baby on my hip 😂
So good! Check out those bubbles!
3 c Gold Medal
1/2 TBSP baking powder
1 TBSP salt
1 C crisco
1 C hot water
Okay so I’m kind of bad at directions cause I usually just do things by memory, but basically this is how I make it:
Add the dry ingredients & wisk them together. Add the lard and mix that up by hand. Make sure you get as much of the lard mixed up with the flour by squishing it together.
Then add hot tap water and knead for like 5 mins and make sure it isn’t sticking to your hands anymore and SMOOTH. I roll mine in about two inch balls (I think?) & leave them in the mixing bowl. Cover with damp paper towels or a hand towel & leave to sit for about 10 mins.
Roll them out thin…I’ll do about 3 before cooking my first one.
Heat on comal (I put it on 7 heat) & flip when you see the bubbles like in the pic.
(It’ll take a couple trial and errors when you’re first making them if it’s your first time)
You need to figure out which heat is best for the pan you’re working with & when to flip…But I always flip them when I see those big bubbles! 🙂
AND YES, I know 1 cup of lard is a lot but it’s good so 😝
