Step-by-Step Recipe Directions
We are going to start this recipe by partially cooking the bacon. This will help get an extra crispy texture of bacon without overcooking the hot dog in the air fryer.
Step 1 – Partially cook the bacon. There are 2 easy ways to do this. The first is to lay the strips of bacon on a piece of parchment paper that has been placed on a rimmed baking sheet. Place the bacon in an oven that has been preheated to 350 degrees F. Cook for 5 minutes.
The second way is to place the bacon between sheets of paper towel and place on a microwave safe plate. Cook the bacon for about 1 to 1 ½ minutes. Remember, all ovens and microwaves vary, so take a look at the next photo to see how the bacon should look when you wrap up the hot dogs.
Step 2 – Take a piece of bacon and wrap it around the hot dog. This will take 1 strip of bacon, maybe 2, depending on the bacon and size of the hot dog.
Try not to overlap the bacon while wrapping the hot dog.
Step 3 – Place the wrapped hot dogs on the air fryer basket. For easy clean up, and depending on the type of air fryer you have, line the drip tray with aluminum foil for easier clean up.
Step 4 – Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F. When ready, place the air fryer basket in the air fryer and cook for 7 to 10 minutes until the bacon is crispy.
Turn the hot dogs once during the cooking time.
Place the bacon dog in your favorite hot dog bun and add whatever classic toppings you like. The addition of a crispy texture is a real game changer for hot dogs.
Using the air fryer to make a delicious meal with simple ingredients makes this perfect for busy weeknights.
