These Hawaiian Roll Pizza Sliders are the perfect quick and easy snack for parties, game days, family dinners, or whenever you’re craving pizza without making a full pizza. Soft Hawaiian rolls are filled with gooey mozzarella, savoury pepperoni, and pizza sauce, then brushed with seasoned butter and baked until golden and delicious. They’re easy to pull apart, fun to serve, and always a crowd-pleaser!
Ingredients You’ll Need
You only need a handful of simple ingredients to make these delicious Hawaiian Roll Pizza Sliders.
Hawaiian Rolls: Use one package of soft Hawaiian sweet rolls. Keep the rolls connected when slicing them in half so the sliders can be assembled easily.
Pizza Sauce: Your favourite pizza sauce works perfectly. You can also use marinara sauce if that’s what you have on hand.
Mozzarella Cheese: Shredded mozzarella gives these sliders that classic stretchy, cheesy pizza texture.
Pepperoni: Small pepperoni slices are ideal because they fit nicely inside the rolls. You can use regular or mini pepperoni.
Butter: Melted butter is brushed over the tops of the rolls before baking, helping them become golden and flavourful.
Italian Seasoning: A little Italian seasoning adds extra pizza flavour to the buttery topping.
Garlic Powder: Garlic powder gives the rolls a delicious savoury flavour.
Parmesan Cheese: Sprinkle grated Parmesan over the buttery tops for an extra cheesy finish.
You can also add crushed red pepper flakes if you like a little heat.
How to Make Pizza Sliders
Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking dish that is large enough to comfortably hold the Hawaiian rolls.
Keep the Hawaiian rolls connected and carefully slice them horizontally through the middle. You should have one large sheet of roll bottoms and one large sheet of roll tops.
Place the bottom half of the rolls into the prepared baking dish.
Spread a generous layer of pizza sauce over the rolls. Try to spread it evenly so every slider gets plenty of flavour.
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
Next, arrange the pepperoni evenly over the cheese. If you love extra pepperoni, feel free to add another layer.
Place the top half of the Hawaiian rolls back over the filling.
In a small bowl, combine melted butter, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and Parmesan cheese. Stir until well combined.
Brush the seasoned butter generously over the tops of the Hawaiian rolls, making sure the entire surface is covered.
Cover the baking dish loosely with aluminium foil and bake for about 15 minutes. The foil helps prevent the tops from browning too quickly while the cheese melts.
Remove the foil and continue baking for another 5–10 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is completely melted.
Let the sliders cool for a few minutes before slicing them apart.
Serve warm with extra pizza sauce or marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
How To Change Up These Pull Apart Rolls
One of the best things about Hawaiian Roll Pizza Sliders is how easy they are to customise. You can change the fillings depending on what your family likes or what you already have in the refrigerator.
Make Them Meat Lovers: Add cooked Italian sausage, ham, bacon, salami, or cooked ground beef along with the pepperoni.
Try Different Cheese: Mozzarella is classic, but you can also add provolone, cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Parmesan. A combination of cheeses makes the sliders even more delicious.
Make Veggie Pizza Sliders: Leave out the meat and add sliced mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, black olives, spinach, or banana peppers.
Add Extra Garlic: Mix fresh minced garlic into the melted butter instead of using garlic powder for an even stronger garlic flavour.
Make Them Spicy: Add crushed red pepper flakes, sliced jalapeños, or spicy pepperoni.
Hawaiian Pizza Style: Add diced ham and pineapple for a sweet and savoury Hawaiian pizza-inspired version.
Supreme Pizza Sliders: Add pepperoni, sausage, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and olives for a loaded version.
Chicken Pizza Sliders: Replace the pepperoni with cooked shredded chicken and add mozzarella and your favourite pizza sauce.
You can also serve different varieties on the same tray. Make half pepperoni and half veggie, for example, so everyone has an option they’ll enjoy.
Can I Prep Pizza Sliders in Advance?
Yes! Hawaiian Roll Pizza Sliders are an excellent make-ahead recipe, especially when you’re preparing food for a party, game day, or family gathering.
You can assemble the sliders completely in advance, including the pizza sauce, cheese, pepperoni, and roll tops. You can also prepare the seasoned butter mixture ahead of time.
Place the assembled sliders into your baking dish, cover them tightly with foil, and refrigerate until you’re ready to bake.
The important part is not to bake them until you’re ready to serve.
For the best texture, take the sliders out of the refrigerator while the oven preheats. Brush the seasoned butter over the rolls if you haven’t already done so, then bake as directed.
If the sliders are very cold from the refrigerator, they may need a few additional minutes in the oven to become hot throughout and fully melt the cheese.
Preparing them ahead makes this recipe especially convenient for parties. You can assemble everything earlier in the day, refrigerate it, and simply bake when your guests arrive.
How to Reheat Pizza Sliders
If you have leftover pizza sliders, they’re easy to reheat and can still taste delicious the next day.
Oven: Place the sliders in a baking dish and cover loosely with foil. Reheat at 325°F (165°C) for about 10–15 minutes, or until warmed through and the cheese is melted again.
Air Fryer: For a quick option, place individual sliders in the air fryer and heat at 325°F for about 3–5 minutes. Keep an eye on them so the tops don’t become too brown.
Microwave: Place one or two sliders on a microwave-safe plate and heat for about 20–30 seconds at a time until warm. The microwave is the fastest option, although the rolls may be softer than when reheated in the oven or air fryer.
For the best results, I recommend the oven or air fryer because they help bring back some of the golden, slightly crisp texture on top while keeping the inside warm and cheesy.
Store leftover sliders in an airtight container in the refrigerator and enjoy them within a few days.
